Dr Ilias Galanopoulos graduated from the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1998. After completing his residency in Trauma and Orthopaedics and successfully passing the Orthopaedic Licensing Examinations in 2008, he was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the 1st Department of Orthopaedics in 401 General Military Hospital of Athens. In 2011 he went to the United Kingdom, where he did a fellowship in knee reconstructive surgery for a year and a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery for another year and returned to his previous post. Currently, he is working as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the 2nd Department of Orthopaedics in 401 General Military Hospital and at the 2nd Department of Orthopaedics at Henry Dunant Hospital Center.
His main area of interest is shoulder surgery including complex arthroscopic procedures, shoulder replacement including both primary and revision cases (anatomic and reverse shoulder arthroplasty), knee reconstructive surgery (primary and revision total knee replacement), knee arthroscopic surgery and a wide range of trauma surgery (fracture fixation).
